Developer Briefcase version 1 works locally, requires no account, and does not send workspace records or search queries to Elevoire. This website may produce ordinary hosting logs, stores only a local theme preference in your browser, and receives information you choose to send for support.
Who and what this policy covers
This policy applies to the Developer Briefcase Windows application, the Developer Briefcase pages at apps.elevoire.com, and related support communications operated by Elevoire (“Elevoire,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
It does not govern Microsoft Store, Windows, a user’s email provider, project hosts, repositories, editors, terminals, browsers, external websites, or other third-party products. Their own terms and privacy practices apply.
Where a user stores information about clients, contacts, staff, vendors, or other people in the app, that user or their organization determines why and how those records are used. Elevoire does not become the controller or recipient of those local records merely because the software stores them on the user’s device.
Local workspace information
The application processes information users choose to enter, import, calculate, reference, or generate. Depending on use, this may include:
- Client and contact information: names, company, contact person, email, phone, website, country, timezone, communication preference, notes, and tags.
- Project and operational information: descriptions, status, priority, dates, technology, local folders, environments, URLs, repository references, SSH aliases, task details, checklists, launch records, renewals, maintenance, resources, notes, and activity summaries.
- Billing records: invoice numbers, descriptions, dates, amount, tax, discount, currency, client/project snapshots, manually recorded payment amounts, dates, method labels, non-sensitive references, notes, and calculated paid/outstanding/overdue status.
- Preferences and technical configuration: display/workspace names, themes, accents, density, notification choices, default folders, and paths to editors, terminals, browsers, or other tools.
- Backup and export data: user-created database backups, integrity metadata, and JSON exports written to a destination the user selects.
This processing occurs to provide the app’s requested functionality and generally takes place on the signed-in Windows user’s device.
Billing is a record tracker, not a payment service. Do not store card numbers, security codes, bank-login details, payment-account passwords, API tokens, private keys, database passwords, government identifiers, or other authentication secrets in any field.
Workspace records Elevoire does not receive
In version 1, Elevoire does not operate an online account, workspace synchronization service, hosted database, analytics SDK, advertising SDK, or remote search service for Developer Briefcase. The app does not transmit local clients, projects, tasks, environments, notes, invoice records, payment records, searches, settings, backups, or exports to Elevoire by default.
The application deliberately has no modeled fields for passwords, API secrets, access tokens, SSH private keys, or database passwords. A user may nevertheless put sensitive content into a free-form field; doing so is contrary to this policy’s safety guidance and does not create a secure secret vault.
Elevoire cannot view, retrieve, correct, export, or delete app records that never leave the user’s device. Those controls belong to the user through app functions, Windows, storage devices, and any backup destinations the user chooses.
Information Elevoire may receive
Website hosting logs
Like most hosted websites, the server or infrastructure provider may process IP address, request date and time, requested URL, referrer, user-agent/browser information, response status, and security events to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and maintain service security. We do not use this site to collect workspace records.
Theme preference
The light/dark selection is stored in browser local storage under db-site-theme. It remains in that browser until cleared. The site does not require advertising or analytics cookies in its current configuration.
Support communications
If you email support, we receive the address and name associated with the message, its content, attachments, and delivery metadata. Send the minimum information necessary. Do not send full databases, exports, credentials, bank/card details, private keys, client-confidential files, or personal data unrelated to the issue unless we specifically establish an appropriate secure method and lawful purpose.
Microsoft Store and external links
When you use Microsoft Store or follow an external link, the destination may receive information under its own privacy policy. Developer Briefcase may open user-configured HTTP/HTTPS destinations and local applications; that action transfers control outside the app.
Why we use information we receive
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process limited website and support information:
- to deliver, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the website and software support service, based on legitimate interests and service performance;
- to answer requested support, privacy, security, and product communications, including steps taken at your request before or under a contract;
- to detect abuse, fraud, malicious activity, and technical threats, based on legitimate interests and legal obligations;
- to comply with law, enforce terms, and establish or defend legal claims, based on legal obligations and legitimate interests; and
- with consent where consent is the appropriate basis, which may be withdrawn for future processing.
The exact basis may vary by jurisdiction and context. We do not use local app records for advertising, profiling, or automated decisions because we do not receive them in the current version.
Where information exists
Application storage
The active SQLite database is stored under the signed-in Windows user’s local application-data area. User-selected backups and exports are stored wherever the user directs them. Resource references and project files remain in their existing locations and are not automatically bundled into the database backup.
Website and support systems
Hosting logs and support communications may be processed where Elevoire or its service providers operate. If information moves across national borders, we use available legal mechanisms and safeguards required for the transfer context. Because service locations and legal requirements can change, contact us if you require information for a specific jurisdiction before sending support data.
How long information remains
Local app records remain until the user archives, deletes, clears, restores over, or otherwise removes them, or until application data is removed through Windows. Uninstall behavior can differ between signed Store packages, test installers, upgrades, preserved-data options, and user-created locations.
Copies may remain in .dbcase backups, JSON exports, synchronized folders, system backups, disk images, email, repositories, or files opened in other applications. Those copies must be managed independently.
We retain website security logs and support communications only as long as reasonably needed for the stated purposes, operational continuity, dispute handling, fraud/security prevention, and legal obligations. Routine log periods are determined by infrastructure configuration; legal holds, active incidents, and support cases may require longer retention.
Safeguards and user controls
The product minimizes network data flow, uses a local database, validates backup integrity, creates a safety backup before replacement restore, restricts supported launcher placeholders, and avoids modeled credential fields. Website and support providers are selected with reasonable security in mind.
No software, device, email, hosting provider, backup, or security control can guarantee confidentiality, integrity, availability, or permanent recovery. Loss or exposure can result from malware, unauthorized account access, insecure folders, unencrypted backups, hardware failure, corruption, software defects, external tools, updates, user actions, or other events.
- Protect Windows with Windows Hello or a strong password and device encryption where available.
- Lock unattended devices and restrict access to project folders and backups.
- Keep Windows and security software supported and current.
- Maintain multiple tested backups and independent copies of authoritative business records.
- Limit client and payment data to what is necessary and permitted.
See the Security page for more detail and reporting guidance.
Your choices and jurisdictional rights
Depending on location and applicable law, a person may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information Elevoire controls, withdraw consent, and complain to a regulator. These rights can be limited by identity verification, legal exceptions, security, third-party rights, and retention obligations.
For records stored only inside a user’s local app database, Elevoire cannot fulfill a server-side access or deletion request because we do not possess those records. Use app archive/delete/export/clear controls, Windows application-data controls, and your backup locations.
Residents of U.S. states with applicable privacy laws may also have rights to know, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of covered personal information and to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. We do not sell or share personal information for behavioral advertising and do not conduct such profiling on this product site.
To make a request about website or support information, use the contact method below. We may request proportionate verification and will not discriminate for exercising a protected right.
Authorized business use
Developer Briefcase is intended for adult professionals and organizations, not children. The current site and app are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly operate an online service that collects children’s workspace information.
Users must have a lawful basis and appropriate authority before entering personal information about clients, contacts, employees, contractors, or other people. Users are responsible for required notices, permissions, agreements, security, retention, and response to rights requests relating to those records.
Policy updates
We will revise this policy before materially different data handling—such as accounts, cloud synchronization, crash reporting, analytics, online licensing, support uploads, or payment integrations—is introduced. The effective date and version identify the current policy. Material changes may also be communicated in the app, Store listing, release notes, or website where appropriate.
Privacy questions and complaints
Use the protected contact option on the Support page and put “Developer Briefcase privacy request” in the subject. Identify the relevant website visit or support interaction without sending unrelated confidential records.
You may also have the right to complain to the privacy or data-protection authority responsible for your location. Contacting us first can help us address a concern, but does not remove that right.
